The Verneuil affair worries Florent

While Carole Martinez is terrified after nearly being shot and killed two evenings earlier, Judge Alphand offers her lawyer, Maître Cabestan, to have her placed under judicial protection, because this attack could have a link with her testimony concerning the envelope of cash she says she found in her boss’s office.

Meanwhile, Philippe Verneuil, placed in pre-trial detention, meets his fellow prisoner, who turns out to be Moreau, a former drug trafficker. Delighted to be in a cell with a businessman, he believes he can make money thanks to him. Verneuil argues that it is his company’s money and not his own, Moreau advises him to use it to buy the protection of certain influential prisoners in order to guarantee his safety during his prison stay.

In the visiting room, Verneuil collapses in front of Florent when the latter informs him that his company’s computers are still being examined and could not be recovered. Desperate at the idea that his company will sink, he makes his lawyer promise to watch over his daughter Aurore.

Back at the office, Florent meets Johanna and Margot, busy preparing the company cocktail for the firm’s one-year anniversary. But their colleague does not have the heart to celebrate. He explains to Johanna that he is worried about Verneuil, who is one of his very first clients and whose daughter he saw growing up. He fears that his life will be shattered because of someone who accuses him of this drug trafficking and does not support this situation.

Levars wants to plead irresponsibility for Hélène

It’s the big day for Claire who officially resumes her nursing position at the hospital. David and Yasmine welcome her enthusiastically, delighted to see her back among them. As Claire puts her things in her locker, she notices that the one next to hers still has a tag with Helen’s name on it. Yasmine notices it and snaps it off.

Meanwhile, Maître Levars, who has had confirmation from a specialist that the blood pressure medication Hélène was taking could have side effects, goes to Judge Alphand’s office and contacts Commander Becker to inform him of the their intention to explore the trail of criminal irresponsibility for his client. This track should be reinforced by a second medical report submitted to the nurse.

Becker then informs Janet over lunch, and the doctor despairs that she hasn’t noticed any of the nurse’s symptoms that could have tipped her off, and allowed her to stop him in time. Becker tries to reassure her: only the results of the counter-expertise will be able to prove it, and that may take time.

Levars then goes to prison and asks for a visit to Hélène. He informs his client that she will soon be able to go out in order to be hospitalized as part of a new psychological examination which could prove that she was not responsible for her actions towards Claire. At these words, Hélène loses her temper: she refuses to be taken to the hospital, and accuses Levars of being in cahoots with Florent to prevent him from seeing Claire again.

For her part, Claire learns through Alain that Hélène’s lawyer is trying to portray her behavior as irresponsible in connection with her treatment. Distraught because this type of side effect is extremely rare, she suspects a tactic from her lawyer to get her out of prison. At nightfall, she has a nightmare: at the hospital, the label with Hélène’s name has reappeared on her locker, and the nurse slips behind her by surprise…

Enzo wants to take his independence

When he finds his grandmother Claudine for a trip, she asks him if the preparations for their move are progressing. Enzo replies that he is very happy with this change of life for Florent and Claire, but admits that he would have preferred to take this opportunity to become independent by finding accommodation by himself.

Claudine then offers him to talk to his father about it and even to help him financially, but he doesn’t prefer to spoil their happiness for the moment and will announce his decision to them in due time. He also kindly refuses the help of his grandmother, and prefers to fend for himself.
