To start the first day of theEVO 2023several panels were organized on stage, starting with that ofArc System Works. It was an opportunity for the studio to announce a brand new game Under Night In-Birththe fifth of the license, but which this time will not be a revision of the 2012 episode like the previous ones, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r] also beginning to date. It is therefore Under Night In-Birth II Sys: Celes which was revealed through a first trailer already rich in gameplay and introduction of sound fighters rosterstill developed by the Japanese developers of French-Bread.
So these are no less than 21 playable characters who will return within this story which will be the last chapter of theHollow Night started almost a decade ago, always with a format of light novel. THE trailer shows us in action hyde, Linne, Waldstein, Orie, Enkidu, Mike, Seth, Vatista, Merkava, Yuzuriha, Gordon, Carmine, hilda, Byakuya, Chaos, phonon, Nanase, Wagner, Londonkia, Eltnum And Akatsukiall in teasing two In-Births new playables present on the official illustration which will undoubtedly serve as the jacket: Tsurugi And Kaguya.
Players take on the role of young high school student and story protagonist Hyde as he encounters the mysterious Linne, causing his inner EXS powers to suddenly awaken. The two unite in a grueling struggle to defeat the fearsome and supposedly strongest of all users, Paradox. However, an enigmatic force known as Kuon the Aeon appears and crushes the two victors, proclaiming the coming of the end of the world. This leads to Linne’s demise. Hyde, now determined to save their world from Kuon, then ventures alone into the Night…
The combat system has been redesigned, with the possibility of trigger EXS with a simple press of a buttonnew skills for characters, revised balance and more, always with a visual style in line with pixel art high quality and dynamic facial expressions. Several illustrations were shown on stage, starting from sketches to finalized versions.
Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes will be released in early 2024 on PS5, PS4, Switch and PC (Steam), with some netcode rollback for online battles (ranked or unranked) and texts in English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, French, Italian, German and Spanish. The players present at theEVO can already lay their hands on it on the publisher’s stand. Many visuals can be found on the next page.
