“The fee is a reimbursement of expenses incurred for necessary office expenses and secretarial costs arising from their particular position in public life,” the UK government website states. This allowance cannot therefore be used for private expenses. In addition, in the event that a former Prime Minister accepts a public appointment, the level of his allowance is reviewed according to the remuneration granted to him by this appointment.

On the British public scene, many voices are raised for Liz Truss to give up touching her 115,000 pounds. “She should refuse. I think it’s the right thing to do, ”said his opponent Keir Starmer, the boss of the Labor Party, on Friday on ITV. “She did 44 days in office, she is not really entitled to it, she should refuse it and not take it,” he added.
