United States: plunge in the Empire State index

(Boursier.com) — The New York Fed’s Empire State manufacturing index for the month of March 2024 came in at -20.9, compared to a consensus of -8 and a reading of -2.4 a month earlier. The index is therefore clearly falling into the red, signaling a very strong contraction in manufacturing activity in the region considered this month.
