A mother in the state of Virginia was charged on January 21 after telling a school board meeting that she would “bring weapons loaded and ready” to fight the requirement to wear the mask at school. school for her children reported CNN.
She later apologized in an email to the board saying she was not referring to actual firearms. Apologies that were not enough to calm school officials. In a statement, the school said “not to take such statements lightly.” School board president Megan Gordon said there will be an increased police presence at every school in the district on Friday and Monday.

A new order
For its part, the Luray Police Department said in a statement that it “has also contacted state and federal law enforcement agencies regarding this incident.” The members of the council convened, Thursday, January 20, a special meeting around the wearing of masks for schoolchildren. Indeed, it was a question of whether or not the mandate put in place last year by the former governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam, could not be lifted. School board members ultimately voted 4-2 to blow the term.
In parallel, new Governor Glenn Youngkin issued a new order making K-12 mask mandates optional. This will take effect on Monday, January 24.
