WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The White House said on Friday it had no plans to return to the U.S. Congress to seek changes to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), a day after Joe Biden’s statements about “adjustments”.

“We have no intention of going back to Congress to get legislative changes on inflation,” White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters.

“For any landmark legislation like the IRA, there’s a complex implementation and process that’s going on across federal agencies,” she said.

During a press conference Thursday with Emmanuel Macron, Joe Biden spoke of “adjustments” to the measures provided for in the Inflation Reduction Act, with some 430 billion dollars in tax relief, the effects of which Europeans fear for their industry .

“There are ways to address Europe’s concerns,” the White House spokeswoman said. “This is an issue that we are in the process of resolving through

substantive consultations with our European counterparts”.
