United States: Unemployment claims unchanged at 205,000

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Unemployment claims in the United States remained stable during the week to Dec. 18, at 205,000, the same rate as the week before, the Labor Department said Thursday. Economists expected an average of 205,000 jobless claims.

Registrations for the week to December 11 have been revised down from an initial estimate of 206,000. The four-week moving average stands at 206,250 compared to 203,500 (revised) the week before. The number of people receiving regular benefits amounted to 1.859 million during the week to December 11 (last week for which these figures are available) against 1.867 million the previous week.
