Unterleuten – The torn village: power, fainting and the crux with wind power

The bestselling novel by the Bonn writer Juli Zeh (45, "Unterleuten", 2016) has been made into a film. And precisely this three-part series "Unterleuten – Das torner Dorf" starts this evening on ZDF. The multi-award-winning director Matti Geschonneck (67, "Liebesjahre") staged the complex relationship network of the small community in Brandenburg very well.

What is "Unterleuten" about

Unterleuten is a fictional village in the Brandenburg province. Here they live together: Wende and Wende loser, Ostalgiker, capitalists, traveled city dwellers and long-established residents. And anyone who thinks they can step out of time in the country and enter the idyll has been thoroughly wrong. Because the corpses that are in the basement cannot be hidden in the long run. When a wind farm is to be built in the immediate vicinity of the village, this divides the residents. Friends become enemies and vice versa …

Who plays everything?

The cast list of "Unterleuten" can confidently be called a real all-star cast. Among other things, you can see: Charly Hübner (47) as the highly opaque auto mechanic Schaller, Alexander Held (61) as a clever businessman Meiler, Ulrich Noethen (60) as bird protectionist Dr. Gerhard Fließ, Rosalie Thomass (32) plays his wife Jule Fließ, with an esoteric touch, Bjarne Mädel (51) can be seen as a writer with writer's block, Dagmar Manzel (61) plays the cat woman and Jörg Schüttauf (58) the mayor – to name just a few call.

When will the three parts be broadcast?

The ZDF shows the first part of the three-part series "Unterleuten – Das zerrissene Dorf" on Monday (March 9th). Part two will be broadcast on Wednesday (March 11th) and part three on Thursday (March 12th) – all films will start at 8:15 p.m. If you want to know immediately after the kick-off – which is quite likely – you can already watch all the episodes in the ZDF media library.
