UNUSUAL: a flipbook hidden in the Quest 1 manual!

This ad doesn’t break a duck’s three legs, but is worth a look. Guess they had fun at Oculus at the time of Quest 1. Some of you may have noticed…or not, because the warranty manual is usually the last thing we look at when buying a digital product, but in this manual published for the Quest 1 hides a wink. In the jargon of geek, we call it a easter eggs, or Easter egg. This is a very common practice in games and certain applications, where developers leave a small souvenir of their passage, a trace of themselves in short.

It is therefore in the warranty manual of the helmet that we find a flip book, you know, we all did one in school. We would draw a stickman on a pad of paper with a different posture on each page, and flipping through it very quickly would animate the character much like a camera roll used in movies.

If you haven’t taken the plunge yet, you can treat yourself to a Meta Quest 2 at the house of Baker, the Fnac, Darty Where Amazon for €349.99.
