Order one iPhone 15 Pro Max at Apple and receive a pirated Android smartphone instead, it’s possible!
This is a particularly unpleasant mishap that recently happened to a Reddit user. Indeed, like many technology lovers, “theEdmard” wanted to acquire an iPhone 15 Pro Max. For this, he turns to the official Apple website. A few days later, in the precious package, the latter discovered… an iPhone clone running Android.
An iPhone order that doesn’t go as planned
According to theEdmard, when he opened the box, he quickly realized something was wrong. The alleged iPhone 15 Pro Max was covered in a screen protector, which is not customary for a new iPhone. Furthermore, the screen itself was not at all what he expected.
When switched on, the latter displayed serious gaps in dark areas, something unlikely for an OLED panel. Added to this is a thick border at the bottom of the screen. Quickly, the latter understands that it is in no way an iPhone 15 Pro Max… nor even any iPhone.
A counterfeit from Apple?
Instead of the much-desired Apple smartphone, theEdmard therefore received a common Android clone, which had certain pre-installed applications such as YouTube, Facebook and TikTok. For its part, the serial number written on the box is indeed authentic, and corresponds to an iPhone 15 Pro Max.
We would be tempted to think that the real iPhone was stolen, before being replaced by a clone, by the delivery company, here DPD. The company nevertheless assures that it has nothing to reproach itself for, and that the package remained perfectly sealed from the moment it left the warehouse to the customer.
According to the magazine Mashable, this apparently isn’t the first time someone ordered an iPhone 15 from Apple and received an Android phone instead. It was a TikTok user who recently paid the price.
Real concern about the order or simple quest for buzz, difficult to disentangle the truth from the false in this type of situation. For his part, the unlucky customer claims to be in discussions with Apple, but that the situation has not yet been resolved.
