Unusual: Kayak creates a special filter to avoid Boeing Max 9s and reassure travelers a little more

In recent days, the Boeing 737 Max 9s have not been spared from technical problems…

A little less than 10 years ago, Boeing unveiled its brand new 737 Max, aiming to compete with the Airbus A320, which will enter service in 2017. A brand new plane, equipped with the latest technologies, which promises better comfort, less consumption…However, following numerous problems (notably software), the Boeing 737 Max is grounded, and the firm must make various changes in 2020.

Boeing at the heart of numerous malfunctions

A few days ago, the image was making the rounds on the web. During an Alaska Airlines flight, one of the plane’s windows came loose in mid-flight, forcing an emergency landing near Portland. A Boeing 737 Max 9 yet assembled in 2023, which greatly worries the parent company… and travelers.

Already in 2018, a Boeing 737 Max 8 crashed a few minutes after taking off from Jakarta. Same tragedy a year later, this time near Addis Ababa, with a crash occurring a few minutes after takeoff of the Ethiopian Airlines flight….

Boeing 737 Max 9 excluded from Kayak

Just recently, an oxygen leak forced passengers to disembark before takeoff. So many elements which have created a certain distrust of Boeing’s 737 Max 9… and which the search engine dedicated to travel, Kayak, has already taken into consideration.

Indeed, the website formerly grouped together the various Boeing 737 models, but today it allows you to distinguish between the Max 9 and Max 8. Thus, in the search results, the column on the left allows you to apply various filters, and we can in particular exclude the Boeing 737 Max 9.

Remember that the American civil aviation regulatory agency (FAA) has set up a maintenance and inspection program to allow the Boeing 737 MAX 9, currently grounded in the United States, to resume air soon.
