Whether the Meta Quest 3 has been confirmed by Meta to go out this yearlots of leaks and other rumors have since been announced, and for good reason, the helmet is highly anticipated. For latecomers, you can catch up here, here, and here.
Remember, in our previous articles, the design of Meta Quest 3 had been revealed. And well before him, let us remember that that of the Meta Quest Pro had also been leaked and had turned out. There is therefore a good chance that what will follow will be close to the model that will be marketed.
The 3D artist Alvin Suen therefore took it into his head to create a 3D model based on the CAD plans of the alleged Meta Quest 3 prototype. If you want to see it in 3D, click on this link. If you want to go further, via the application Sketchfab, it is possible to see said helmet in your environment through augmented reality, and thus better understand its dimensions. It is also possible to do this from the web browser of the Meta Quest or through the app Figmin XR.
Of course, and you will have noticed it at first glance, the front of the helmet sports three elongated protuberances. It is actually and respectively a pair of black and white and RGB cameras, as well as a sensor of profounder (hope it’s not fictitious – see article).
All this device will obviously be used for spatial monitoring, pass-through color and better hand tracking (hand tracking). Everything indicates that the headset will be cut for mixed reality.
The controllers have been redesigned by the artist to better match the color of the Meta Quest 3. That said, it seems unlikely that the Meta Quest Pro controllers will end up bundled with the Meta Quest 3 given their high price (350 €) but we assume, like the Meta Quest 2, that these will be compatible with the Meta Quest 3.
