There is fire in the roof of the University Psychiatric Services: The Board of Directors resigns as a unit. When asked, the spokesman for the Bernese Health Directorate, Gundekar Giebel, said: “We have known for some time that there are a lot of changes coming in the UPD. Now the board of directors has decided to make room for new ideas and new leadership.”

Why this resignation of the entire board of directors? The Bernese health department did not want to provide any information about this. In the last few years, many projects have been carried out, a lot of renovation work has taken place, and that just takes a toll, said the spokesman for the health department.

At the canton’s suggestion, Christoph Egger is to become the new chairman of the board of directors. Egger headed the Corona special staff and then the cantonal special staff for Ukraine.

The UPD has had financial problems for some time and is lacking skilled workers. The UPD and the Münsingen Psychiatry Center are currently considering a merger.
