The idea of a Crysis 4 isn’t that dumb, especially after Crytek has remastered the first 3 installments for modern consoles. The name of the game had also appeared during the data leak of GeForce NOW, during which a very suspicious list of unannounced games and ports had been spotted: several have since been confirmed, others still seem unrealistic.
It is in this context that an unexpected message was discovered on the account BiliBili of Crytek (the real one, a priori). It has since disappeared from the Chinese social network, but its existence has been noted by Eurogamer. The translation is approximate, but the text on the image and the one accompanying the latter clearly mention a “Crysis 4 project” which will open up a “new nano-battlefield” to us. An illustration showing the helmetAlcatraz on the ground also serves as a teaser for this adventure.
What should be deduced from this? That the announcement is imminent and that Crytek just got the brushes tangled up? One CM had a little too much fun with a fan art ? Or that the account was hacked by imaginative players? We may be fixed in the days or hours to come… Until then, Crysis Remastered Trilogy is available from €59.84 on Amazon.co.uk.
Update 1:20 p.m. : maybe pressed by this leaked, Crytek just confirmed Crysis 4 with a first teaser cryptic in black and white. We obviously won’t have more information for the moment…
Update 2:20 p.m. : an article has just been published on the official website from the studio. He’s just talking about a new Crysis, which could therefore not necessarily be called Crysis 4, and especially of a development that is in its early stages… We will have to be patient.
