LG Smart TVs have several security vulnerabilities that could allow hackers to take control of your smart home. A protective update is already available for download.

If you have an LG television, you should check as soon as possible whether there is an update for it. The security company Bitdefender has discovered some security gaps in the WebOS operating system of the South Korean manufacturer’s smart TVs.
Hackers can use this to gain access to the TV sets and from there penetrate the home network. The door is then open for them to infect it with all kinds of malware. According to Bitdefender, data theft or blackmail attempts via ransomware are conceivable.
TVs affected from WebOS 4 onwards
The security holes affect all televisions with the LG WebOS 4 to 7 operating systems. LG was informed by Bitdefender about the vulnerabilities before publication and released a corresponding update on March 22nd. This should definitely be recorded.
