TO REMEMBER

After 7 weeks of reigning supreme at the American box office, Avatar: The Way of the Water by James Cameron is dethroned by Knock at the Cabin by M. Night Shyamalan and by the comedy 80 For Brady with Jane Fonda.

M. Night Shyamalan’s suspense-thriller has grossed $14.2 million for its first weekend in North America. It is the first feature film that manages to climb to the top of the entries since the release of Avatar 2 on December 16, 2022.

Knock at the Cabin, however, does a little less well than Old, which recorded $16.8 million during its first weekend of operation in July 2021.

This is the 7th time that a film by the director has topped the US box office upon its release. Shyamalan is delighted about it on his Twitter account.

“Thank you to everyone who made Knock At The Cabin the number one movie this weekend! This is the seventh time this has happened to me, I’m pinching myself to see if it’s true. This is the Fourth time in a row with Universal. Much love to James Cameron, he’s a hero to me. Glad to be in theaters with you.”

In the feature film worn by Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge and Dave Bautista, a family spends a vacation in an isolated chalet in the middle of nature. They are then taken hostage by four armed strangers who demand an impossible choice from them in order to avoid the imminence of the apocalypse. While they have practically no means of communication with the rest of the world, they will have to make and assume their decision alone. the film was released in our slles on wednesday february 1st.

Knock at the Cabin: what is M. Night Shyamalan’s technique for surprising the viewer?

On the second place of the podium we find the comedy for seniors 80 For Brady which records 12.5 million green tickets. Starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Rita Moreno, Sally Field and Tom Brady, the film is inspired by a true story and follows four New England Patriots fans as they embark on a life-changing journey to the Super Bowl.

With an additional $10.8 million collected this weekend, Avatar: The Way of the Water has accumulated $636.4 million in North America and $2.174 billion worldwide. The feature film should surpass Titanic and its $2.194 billion at the worldwide box office in a very short time.

Puss in Boots 2 continues its quest with an additional $7.9 million for a total of $151 million in the United States. Finally, in 5th place in this ranking, we find the retransmission of the BTS concert: Yet to Come in Cinemas, which generates 7.8 million dollars in revenue in the United States.
