Artificial intelligence continues to become more popular. To the point of being used in the largest democracy in the world.

As soon as ChatGPT arrived in the world, many specialists explained that artificial intelligence would see its uses multiply, to the point that in the years to come, we should see AI at all levels of society. And this movement is even starting to be noticed at the political level, since candidates for the elections to the American lower house scheduled for 2024 are starting to use technology.

AIs replace volunteers

He’s a volunteer that American citizens weren’t expecting. Artificial intelligence is now taking part in American electoral campaigns, in the form of a voice robot, as shown in a report from Forbes.

In addition to different forms of activism, such as door-to-door canvassing, this robot calls people at home, introduces itself directly as an AI, develops the candidacy of the person for whom it works, then asks questions about the expectations of its correspondent.

Surprisingly fluid exchanges according to Bill Krenz, a 65-year-old American participating in the tests. “ I was expecting a blunder, but there wasn’t one. » he said, surprised.

A use that is becoming more popular in the United States

It was the Democratic candidate for the House of Representatives for 2024 Shamaine Daniels who initiated the call received by Bill Krenz. For her, using AI is a qualitative leap compared to previously used techniques. “ If we were to do a simple phone call or survey, the responses we would get would be very one-dimensional. It is not possible to give texture to the feedback » she explains to Forbes.

And this idea is not unique. Shamaine Daniels actually called on the startup Civox, which works in telephone calls to political destinations generated by AI. Civox developed its technology using nearly 20 open source AI models.

Moreover, the use of AI tends to develop so much that some do it without even indicating it beforehand, like the mayor of New York Eric Adams, who was at the center of a controversy last October for having led a telephone campaign with an AI using his voice and speaking in languages that the councilor did not master. The future ?
