US President Biden invites Asean countries to a special summit

The top priority for the American government is to be a strong and reliable partner in Southeast Asia.

(dpa) US President Joe Biden has invited the heads of state and government of the Association of Southeast Asian States ASEAN to a special summit in Washington in May. White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on Saturday that the top priority for the American government is to be a strong and reliable partner in Southeast Asia. The US-Asean special summit on May 12-13 is intended to demonstrate continued US commitment to the region.
