US puts prime ministers on trial

so. / (Reuters) Federal prosecutors in Miami, Florida have charged British Virgin Islands Prime Minister Andrew Alturo Fahie and two others with cocaine trafficking and conspiracy to launder money. This was announced by the US Department of Justice on Friday.

Fahie was scheduled to appear in Miami District Court Friday in connection with the allegations, along with at least one other accused. The American agency for combating drug trafficking had previously arrested Fahie during a special operation.

The archipelago is a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. The population of around 30,000 lives mainly from tourism and offshore financial transactions.
