According to media reports, animal rights activist Carole Baskin, known from the Netflix series “Tiger King”, is suing the streaming provider and the production company for their portrayal in the trailer for “Tiger King 2”.
The big cat owner Baskin has filed appropriate court documents in Tampa (Florida), reported several US media on Monday. “Tiger King” had told of Baskin’s long-term feud with the private zoo operator Joe Exotic and made the activist known internationally.
The release forms signed by Baskin and her husband refer only to the original documentation, the industry journal “Variety” quoted from the court documents.
Doers had asked the couple
“There is no mention of Royal Goode Production being granted the rights to sequels, the rights to create derivative works from the film, or additional seasons or episodes,” the lawsuit said. According to the documents, the Baskins are demanding that Netflix and Royal Goode Productions remove all of their footage from “Tiger King 2”.
“We have made it very clear to Goode and Chaiklin that we have neither the wish nor the intention to be involved in ‘Tiger King 2’,” said Howard Baskin to the magazine “People”. The filmmakers Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin had previously asked the couple to participate in the sequel.
Joe Exotic is in jail
The series “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” about eccentric big cat lovers had developed into a huge hit on the streaming service Netflix within a very short time. The sequel will be released on November 17th.
The true crime miniseries featured several owners of private zoos in the USA who breed and keep tigers and lions under questionable conditions. The focus was on the “Tiger King” Joe Exotic, who is said to have hired a murderer to kill Baskin. Exotic is now in jail for this. (SDA)
