USA: fall in household morale in August (UMich)


(CercleFinance.com) – The morale of American households deteriorated in August, according to the first results of the monthly survey conducted by the University of Michigan.

The confidence index fell to 71.2 this month, against 71.6 last month, while economists expected it to rise around 72.6.

If the component of consumer judgment on their current situation improved, rising to 77.4 against 76.6 in July, that measuring their outlook fell to 67.3 after 68.3 last month.

Their inflation expectations over a one-year horizon fell slightly to 3.3% from 3.4% last month, continuing their “remarkable stability” of recent months, the UMich also points out.
