USA: ISM manufacturing rebounds, but remains in contraction


(CercleFinance.com) – The US manufacturing sector continued to contract in August, although at a slower pace than in July, shows the monthly ISM survey of purchasing managers.

The ISM index thus rose to 47.6 last month, after 46.4 in July, while remaining below the 50-point threshold, attesting to a contraction in activity, for the tenth month in a row. .

While the new orders sub-index fell from 47.3 to 46.8 month-on-month, the production component improved to 50 from 48.3 in July, just like that of employment, which rose to 48.5 after 44.4 the previous month.
