USA: Rise in crude stocks, decline in gasoline reserves


(CercleFinance.com) – US crude oil inventories rose last week, unlike those of gasoline and distillates, the US Energy Information Agency (EIA) announced on Wednesday.

Crude inventories rose 1.3 barrels to 415.7 million barrels in the week of April 29.

Gasoline inventories fell by 2.2 million barrels, while reserves of distillates, which include heating oil, fell by 2.3 million barrels.

The refinery capacity utilization rate fell to 88.4% from 90.3% the previous week.

After the release of these figures, US light crude maintained its lead, rising 3.5% to nearly $106 a barrel.
