USA-The House of Representatives adopts the $430 billion health and climate plan

WASHINGTON, Aug 12 (Reuters) – The US House of Representatives approved on Friday the $430 billion (422 billion euros) plan aimed in particular at combating climate change and lowering the price of certain drugs.

This “inflation reduction” bill, introduced by the Biden administration, was adopted by 220 votes to 207. The text must be sent to US President Joe Biden for promulgation.

The plan aims in particular to reduce the cost of prescription drugs for the elderly and to combat climate change, in particular by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The adoption of this text is an important victory for US President Joe Biden a few months “midterms”, which will determine the control of the House of Representatives and the Senate for the next two years.

“This is a resounding victory for American families,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said before the vote.
