Your Nintendo Switch can have multiple user accounts. Friends or relatives can also use the console. This is how you create additional profiles.
Nintendo Switch: Switch between profiles
If there is a Nintendo Switch in the house, only one person rarely plays it. That’s why Nintendo gave the console a function that is now common on most consoles: you can create multiple user accounts on one device. Each player has their own individual game area with their own save states and settings.
User accounts or profiles have their own name (usually that of the player) and a profile picture, which you can choose from a pre-made selection of images. You can also link each user account to its own Nintendo account in order to grant the relevant person access to Nintendo Switch Online, among other things. In families, however, it is usually better to have a family group so that each person does not have to pay individually for the online functions.
You can create up to eight user profiles on the Nintendo Switch. This only takes a few seconds and works conveniently from the main menu of the Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite or Nintendo Switch OLED. The procedure is the same for all console models:

You can always see the different user accounts on your Switch as small round windows on the home screen. Select the desired user profile to view information about it and switch to the corresponding profile. You can also change your name or profile picture there. When you start a game, you have to select one of the profiles and can then continue playing with your own save file.
If you already have a user account on another Nintendo Switch console, but now want to transfer it to another Switch console, the easiest way to do this is to use the save data transfer (“Transfer user data”) in the settings. However, you have to take some restrictions into account.

Such a data transfer is useful, for example, if you switch from a normal Switch to a Nintendo Switch OLED but want to take your save data and games with you. However, if you have people in your circle of friends who own a console themselves, you can add them as friends on your Nintendo Switch.
