“In order to protect the population“, the prefect of Loire-Atlantique therefore prohibits from Tuesday April 4, 5 p.m., to Friday April 7, 6 a.m., “wearing, transporting and using fireworks» in the municipalities of Nantes Métropole and the urban community of the Nazairienne and Estuary region. “Carrying and transporting objects that may constitute a weapon by destination» are also prohibited in the center of Nantes and Saint-Nazaire. Thursday, March 30, about a thousand demonstrators gathered in Nantes. According to an AFP photographer, the demonstration had dispersed quietly after a few jets of projectiles launched at the police, the latter having responded by firing tear gas.
