At the end of 2022, Belkin officially launched its MagSafe accessory designed to exploit the “Continuity Camera” feature of macOS Ventura. This gadget allows users of Apple devices to use their iPhone as a luxury webcam.

Installation and compatibility
The MagSafe stand magnetically attaches to the top of the Mac with no other accessories needed. The gadget can work in either portrait or landscape mode, providing users with an excellent quality webcam for video chatting on Zoom, Microsoft Teams and more.
Of course, this only works with MagSafe compatible iPhones, namely the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14. iOS 16 must be installed on your iPhone and macOS Ventura on your Mac.

Belkin presents its product as a perfect companion for your FaceTime calls. It is possible to use it in duo with the Desk View function of macOS Ventura, which exploits the ultra wide-angle lens to allow your colleagues to see your desk during a call. This can be used to present notes or to discuss a project, for example.
Construction and finish
ZDNET.com Editor-in-Chief Jason Hiner had the opportunity to try out Belkin Support as part of his MacOS Ventura and iOS 16 test.
“I tested Belkin’s support on an iPhone 13 Pro connected to a MacBook Air M1,” says Jason Hiner. “I was pleasantly surprised how easily the Mac recognized the iPhone and offered to use it as a webcam. I wish the MagSafe mount could swivel a bit more, but it’s a handy little accessory that does a good job. »
Designed with elegant finishes and lightweight materials, the support sports a neutral and efficient aesthetic, far from the bulky accessories that can sometimes be found on the net. Belkin also added an annular ring that can act as a kickstand when not in use as a webcam stand.
