If your household has a modest income, you may be eligible for Family Vacation Assistance (AVF, or “Vacaf”). This is a boost to finance accommodation during school holidays.
A study carried out in 2015 by the Directorate General for Enterprise of the Ministry of the Economy, however, noted that less than one in two French people went on vacation in the summer. Not all households have the means to leave the family nest.
So for the poorest families, CAF offers, as every year, dedicated help.

Who can claim it?
The AVF is paid on a means-tested basis to low-income families. Its amount can change according to the departments, the composition of the household or the age of the children.
The conditions for allocation, on the other hand, remain the same: you must benefit (in October 2021 to benefit from it in 2022) from at least one CAF benefit, justify a family quotient of less than €900 and have at least one dependent child.
Your CAF should soon inform you – or not – of your eligibility by e-mail, post or SMS and give you all the information on how to take advantage of it. You don’t have to do anything.
How is this aid paid?
Dedicated solely to financing your accommodation during the holidays, this aid is paid directly to the service provider. It represents 40 to 60% of the total amount of your stay, up to a limit of €600.
You must first book a stay of at least seven days and less than 14, before January 2, 2022, during school holidays and with family only.
You must also check that the place you have chosen has the Vacaf label (the list of the 3,600 establishments concerned in France, campsites and holiday villages, is available on the Vacaf website).
When booking, all you have to do is provide your beneficiary number – and pay a deposit, if necessary. Before finally enjoying a well-deserved vacation.
