Vacation in Germany: Vacation during the pandemic is possible again here

The north, which is relatively weakly affected by Corona, is leading the way: Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are completely open to tourists again. Bavaria, which is more severely affected, also wants to open soon. In other countries there are some openings. You can find out what applies here.

Vacation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

From June 7th, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will open tourism to its own citizens, second home owners and long-term campers. A week later, the Baltic Sea vacation should then be possible for everyone. From now on it can be booked, said Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) on Tuesday evening.

This makes the federal state one of the first to open concrete openings for tourism. With a seven-day incidence of 77.9 (as of May 12), Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is also one of the least affected regions in Germany.

The opening concept provides that vacationers can be tested twice a week. Unlike last year, there will be no restrictions on the occupancy of hotels this time, all beds may be occupied, as the “Southwest Press“Reported.

Vacation in Schleswig-Holstein

The neighboring state of Schleswig-Holstein will open tourism on May 17th. There, the seven-day incidence of 49 cases per 100,000 inhabitants is also significantly lower than in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Travelers in Schleswig-Holstein are obliged to present a negative test on arrival and to be tested again every three days during their stay. Fully vaccinated and convalescents are excluded.

Individual model projects have already opened earlier. These include the Schlei region, Eckernförde and North Friesland. From Saturday the Lübeck Bay, Timmendorfer Strand, Scharbeutz, Sierksdorf and Neustadt will be added, on Monday then Büsum, according to the “daily News“.

Vacation in Bavaria

On average, the seven-day incidence in Bavaria is still 106.6, in districts that fall below the 100 mark, overnight stays in hotels, holiday apartments and campsites should be possible again from May 21. A negative test is also mandatory here; it must be renewed every 48 hours.

Holiday apartments and campsites in other federal states as well

In Rhineland-Palatinate, vacationing in holiday apartments or mobile homes with their own sanitary facilities is allowed again from this Wednesday.

Thuringia and Saxony allow overnight stays on campsites as well as in holiday apartments and houses with an incidence below 100.

Lower Saxony takes a similar course as Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania if it allows overnight stays for its own citizens from this week onwards. A negative corona test is also required here. For non-residents, the vacation should be possible from May 31st. The regulation is still pending.

Elsewhere, people are waiting to see the incidence develop. Not surprisingly, since half of the federal states have a seven-day incidence above the limit value of 100.
