The evening of Sunday April 10 will remain, without a doubt, as one of the worst evenings of her life for Valérie Pécresse. Republican candidate in the first round of the 2022 presidential election, the president of the Île-de-France region totaled less than 5% of the votes cast. An exceptionally low score for the candidate of a party that nevertheless governed France 10 years ago. Worse still, by not reaching the 5% mark, Valérie Pécresse, despite being given the winner in the second round in certain polls a few weeks ago, will not be reimbursed for her campaign expenses by the State.
Fortunately, in this endless nightmare, the Republican candidate can count on the support of certain members of her political family like Vanessa Williot-Bertrand. Involved in Valérie Pécresse’s campaign as“speaker for Hauts de France”, the wife of Xavier Bertranddefeated in the right-wing primary, congratulated his candidate. “Whatever the lessons to be learned from this evening – and they absolutely must be, finally – thank you Valérie Pécresse for her courage during this campaign, and to all those who fought to the end to defend the values of the Republican Right”she wrote on Twitter.
Vanessa Pécresse ruined: her call for donations
With less than 5% of the votes, Valérie Pécresse will not be reimbursed for all of her campaign costs. The Republican candidate and president of the Ile-de-France region admitted on Monday, April 11, that she had gone into personal debt for this campaign and appealed for help. “I need your urgent help. The financial situation of my campaign is now critical. We have not reached the 5% that would allow us to obtain the 7 million reimbursement from the State that we expected. I appeal to all those who gave me their vote, but also to all those who yesterday preferred the useful vote. And finally, to all French people who are attached to political pluralism and freedom of expression.”said Valérie Pécresse who must in particular repay a personal loan of 5 million euros taken out for this campaign.
