Var: the city of Saint-Raphaël has an “anti-bureaucracy” referent

The city of Saint-Raphaël, in the Var, designated Wednesday, February 24 among its elected officials an “anti-bureaucracy” referent, who will be responsible for “fighting against red tape”. An initiative presented by its mayor as a first in France.

The mission of this elected official will thus consist of “lightening the daily life” of the 35,000 inhabitants (100,000 in summer) “by facilitating and streamlining the administrative procedures”, explained Frédéric Masquelier, LR mayor of this seaside resort.

Lawyer by profession, the city councilor believes that local elected officials can help fight against bureaucracy because “they themselves produce a certain number of standards”.

Frédéric Heudiard, 7th deputy and current delegate for relations with public service users was therefore appointed “anti-bureaucracy referent” on Wednesday in the City Council.

Its role will be to help shorten administrative procedures, “excessively long”, according to the mayor, and to identify dysfunctions and excessive standards.

The mayor, who underlines that with digital “there is already simplification and acceleration” in the procedures, recalls the motto in force within his town hall: “yes is the principle, no is exception and must be reasoned”.

If he considers that the administrative simplification measures have not gone far enough, because “we say but we do not do”, Mr. Masquelier believes that his Cannes counterpart David Lisnard, new president of the Association of Mayors of France, “has shown the way on this issue, a way that must be followed”.
