The 53 year old Cate Blanchett In «Tár» (director: Todd Field) plays the fictional first chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic named Lydia Tár. She has achieved everything a conductor can achieve. In order to assert itself in the patriarchal world of classical music, it has developed a brittle uncompromising attitude. But then her life gets out of hand because of allegations of abuse. Blanchett excels in the role of a woman who tends to appear cool. Unless she spends time with the daughter of her partner Sharon (Nina Hoss) – or stands at the conductor’s desk.

The 46 year old Colin Farell plays the Irishman Pádraic in the black comedy «The Banshees of Inisherin» (director: Martin McDonagh), whose best friend to date suddenly and without reason decides to end their friendship. Special Jury Prize goes to Iran
For his film “No Bears”, the imprisoned Iranian director Jafar Panahi won the Venice Film Festival special price won by the jury. Panahi was arrested in Iran in July. The award-winning filmmaker (“Taxi Tehran”) had made several films in the past despite a ban on working in Iran and a ban on leaving the country. In “No Bears”, 62-year-old Panahi plays himself.
US documentary is best film
