PARIS, January 10 (Reuters) – The water and waste management group Veolia announced on Monday that it had decided to separate the functions of chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer from July 1, 2022.

Estelle Brachlianoff, currently Deputy Managing Director, will succeed the group’s general management from Antoine Frérot, who is to retain the chairmanship.

“Antoine Frérot had expressed his wish to end his duties as CEO, which he has held since 2009, at the end of his current term,” Veolia explains in a press release.

“The directors expressed to Antoine Frérot their unanimous wish that he retain the chairmanship of the board of directors of Veolia”, continues the group.

Veolia succeeded on Friday in its takeover bid for Suez, in which it now controls 86.22% of the capital following its offer.

The group intends to request a reopening of its offer on its competitor from January 12 to 27 inclusive to reach the threshold of 90% of the capital allowing it to withdraw Suez from the list. (Written by Matthieu Protard, edited by Jean-Michel Bélot)
