After the Essential Spotight and the Video Doorbell, Verisure is preparing to integrate another device from the Arlo catalog into its own: the Essential Indoor. And the remote monitoring specialist does not intend to stop there. Owner of the European branch of the manufacturer since the end of 2019, he has also taken advantage of his expertise to review all or almost all of his surveillance equipment by integrating Arlo technologies, and will offer a brand new offer from November 1st.

A faster resolution of doubt thanks to AI

As the name of this new offer, dubbed Smart Protection, suggests, Verisure has decided to bet on artificial intelligence. Arlo cameras have been taking advantage of this for several years now to triage alerts, and it should work the same way within the new Verisure offer. Its mission will therefore consist more precisely in recognizing humans, animals and vehicles on the images captured following motion detection, whether they come from an Arlo camera or a motion detector with images since it operates from the cloud.

The idea is to facilitate the removal of doubt for remote surveillance agents, even if they should always check the images. In order to allow them to act before an intruder has time to break into the user’s home, the new system should also automatically include an Essential Spotlight camera or a motion detector with images to be installed. outside, for houses at least.

Verisure talks about “early detection” and has also made this step one of the pillars of its new system, by providing new shock and opening detectors “ever more sensitive” and a new alarm center equipped to prevent jamming attempts. This central must also transmit alerts more safely and quickly, even without power. To do this, it is equipped with a backup battery sufficient to power it for 24 hours and can communicate via Ethernet, wifi and 4G while encrypting the data.

Image and sound also worked with Arlo

We can also add that the motion detector with images has also been reviewed in order, we are told, to offer improved image quality, again based on Arlo’s expertise. An angle of 140° is also mentioned for the outdoor model, while another 130° model will be offered for indoors, in addition to the Essential Indoor camera. In order to scare off intruders, the installation can also be supplemented with the anti-burglary fog that we already know.

The Smart Protection system of course also includes a badge reader for activating/deactivating the alarm, which Verisure has also updated. Once again, Arlo’s expertise was leveraged to integrate two-way audio; the older model worked more like a walkie-talkie. The new one also offers a numeric keypad for use without a badge, as well as a siren and an SOS button to call an agent for help in the event of a fall, for example. If the latter is not new, it now benefits from a dedicated button making it more visible and easy to access.

Verisure wants to show that its system is not limited to protection against burglaries and can have other daily uses. This SOS function is also found in the MyVerisure control application as well as on the new badges that work with the reader. They too have been revised, and they also gain a “hands-free” function thanks to which it is no longer necessary to brandish them in front of the reader, who is now able to detect them in a near field. Finally, the system can also be supplemented with a smoke detector.

Equipment at 950 € on average

As always with Verisure, basic packs should be offered, but the firm prefers tailor-made. Security diagnostics can thus be carried out with the user to define the most appropriate level of protection according to the place to be protected. By way of example, it was nevertheless specified to us that it would be necessary to count around 950 € for a system including deterrent plates, a 4G alarm unit, a multifunction badge reader, an opening detector and shock sensors, a motion detector with HD images, an Arlo Essential Spotlight camera, three smart badges, and an anti-burglary fog or smoke detector.

Available only as an option, the doorbell is offered at €199 and the Essential Indoor at €129. It will of course be necessary to add to the cost of the equipment a monthly subscription of forty euros for access to the remote monitoring service. Note that the subscription to Arlo services is also included to use the cameras independently of the Verisure system. Finally, the firm indicates that current users will be able to switch to this new offer. However, fees are to be expected if elements are added.
