While this Sony exclusive was to be released on PS4, the Japanese firm would have changed its tune during development. Bad news for gamers.
Since its release in November 2013, the legendary PS4 has hosted a large number of significant exclusives. Unfortunately for those who do not yet own a PS5, Sony seems to be favoring its latest addition more and more and some titles are simply skipping the machine with some 117 million copies sold. Lately, this was the case with Final Fantasy 16 and, next October, the highly anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will do the same. On the other hand, we did not really expect that an exclusive that has been desired for years also decides to skip the PS4.
PS4 players deprived of an expected exclusivity
At ChinaJoy 2023, a public exhibition dedicated to video games held in Shanghai, a special conference was dedicated to Lost Soul Asidethe Sony exclusive first announced in 2016. A new trailer for the PC version has been unveiled quite unexpectedly, as Lost Soul Aside was planned only on PS4 and PS5 until then.
The happiness of some, however, is the misfortune of others. Indeed, the description of the trailer on the channel of Bing Yang, the Chinese developer who worked alone on the game at the start, indicates that the RPG will be released well on PS5 and on PC, but no mention is made of an arrival on PS4. Hard to imagine that it was an oversight on his part. Sony and UltiZeroGames, the studio founded by Bing Yang with the support of the Japanese firm and Tencent, have obviously revised their plans during development.
Despite this bad news, we can see thanks to this new trailer with RTX activated that Lost Soul Aside has lost none of its identity. The fights inspired by Devil May Cry (and therefore very similar to those of Final Fantasy 16) are still just as explosive. The entity that the hero Kazer faces at the end of the trailer also shows us that the bosses of the game will also be able to do things in excess. We can’t wait to finally discover all this controller in hand when the Sony exclusive is released, still scheduled for 2024.
