very reassuring news for Xbox Series players

After the cold shower caused by the last announcement around Hellblade 2 on Xbox Series, fans feared the worst for Gears 6. But they should be able to sleep soundly.

Given the state of the latest major exclusives for Xbox Series consoles at their launch, fans could rightly be concerned about Gears 6. This third-person shooter license with a large multiplayer component does not really good performance with a framerate stuck at 30 FPS. Fortunately, The Coalition seems to have thought of players who swear by fluidity.

A Gears 6 with apparently unbridled FPS

The Xbox brand has unfortunately appeared to be in difficulty for some time. In quick succession, the three big games exclusive to the Xbox Series caused controversy at their launch due to a framerate stuck at 30 FPS, with no Performance mode available “Day One”. A constant that is all the more surprising given that the Series X was sold by Microsoft as “ the most powerful next generation console “. We still remember in 2020 an announcement saying that 30 FPS would be a thing of the past on next-gen consoles. Promises which were unfortunately not kept on the day of their release concerning Redfall, Starfield or Hellblade 2 to come. For the latter, the choice of 30 FPS was also justified to offer a “ cinematic experience “. The PC will however be able to benefit from an unlocked framerate. With all this in mind, what will happen to the next big Xbox Series cartridge: Gears 6?

According to knowledgeable insider Nate “shinobi602” Najda on ResetEra, fans would not have “ nothing to worry about “. The Coalition’s next title developed on Unreal Engine 5 should offer an experience that will suit all types of players. There would therefore be no question of a “cinematic experience” to justify blocking at 30 FPS. Such a limit could also be very expensive for such a nervous and heavily multiplayer-oriented game. Don’t worry, you should also be able to happily slash yourself with chainsaw bayonets at 60 FPS.

A presentation that will soon get everyone in agreement?

The Coalition knows its subject and the Unreal Engine 5. Gears 6 should therefore be a nice graphic slap in the face, without neglecting fluidity for fans. The Xbox Series could well need a big cartridge like this exclusivity to show that they are not there for fun. It’s been a while since we’ve heard about it, though.

However, this should soon change. Gears 6 will indeed be one of the big announcements to come during the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, scheduled for June 9. We should also see State of Decay 3 and the next Call of Duty game there, among other strong presentations. More than a Gears 6 which will perhaps make everyone agree, can this Showcase reassure Xbox Series owners? See you in two short months to find out.
