Vice-Versa 2: the next Pixar film gets a first trailer

Released in cinemas in 2015, Vice versa has established itself as one of the best Pixar films of recent years, with its adventure in the head of young Riley.

Its sequel, soberly titled Vice-Versa 2 and scheduled for June 2024 in cinemas, has just revealed its first images… and new emotions.

Welcome to Anxiety!

Vice-Versa 2 will follow the adventures of a teenage Riley, as she plunges into puberty… with all the upheavals that entails. In particular, she will experience a first romantic relationship with a boy named Jordan.

A small revolution which will see the usual team – Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear and Sadness – welcome new emotions. One of them, Anxiety, also appears in this teaser.

Dubbed in original version by Maya Hawke (Stranger Things, Asteroid City), Anxiety promises to shake up the established order a little, as the actress explains: “Anxiety may be new to the crew, but it’s not really one to take a back seat. This makes a lot of sense when you think about it, given what’s going on in our head at that age”.

In addition to Anxiety, the film will also see the arrival of the emotions Envy, Embarrassment and Boredom, which can be seen on the film poster below. A hell of a host of emotions that promises a thrilling inner adventure.

Vice-Versa 2 is written by Meg LeFauve (Vice versa, Arlo’s Journey) and directed by Kelsey Mann (the short film Evening HQseries Monsters and Co: at work), of which it is the first feature film.

The Pixar studio has been in a delicate position since the Covid pandemic. The failures ofAhead And Buzz Lightning in the cinema, as well as the contested choice of Disney to offer their productions Lucas And Red alert directly on the Disney+ streaming platform have damaged its reputation.

Elementary, their last film released last June, had restored their image a little thanks to a good critical reception, and a worldwide box office flirting with 500 million dollars. Pixar intends to ride this dynamic by giving a sequel to one of its most popular films. As a reminder, the first Vice versa had generated $858 million worldwide in 2015.

Vice-Versa 2 releases on June 19, 2024 in French cinemas.
