Moscow apparently shoots video against flagging morale

Russian pro-war advocates criticize weakening morale among the troops. The Ukrainian General Staff is now reporting on a planned propaganda video in Kherson that is supposed to show victorious Moscow forces.

According to the Ukrainian general staff, Moscow is fighting with weakening morale among the armed forces and is therefore working on a propaganda video in the Kherson region. Two days ago, the Ministry of Defense in Kiev confirmed advances by Ukrainian units on the Russian-held bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region, which is why the location in front of the video does not appear entirely coincidental.

According to the General Staff, the propaganda video is supposed to show an alleged defeat of the “Ukrainian saboteurs” in the occupied city of Kozachi Laheri. A shootout is to be filmed in which 150 Ukrainian soldiers stationed in a cultural center are said to be defeated. “In view of the decline in the fighting spirit of the Russian occupying forces, the enemy leadership is increasingly able to stage its successes,” the general staff said. According to Ukraine, the cultural center is actually used to house around 25 Russian soldiers.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said on August 13 that Russian pro-war advocates were complaining about low Russian morale due to Ukraine’s advances towards Urozhaine. One author claimed that Russian soldiers “withdrew early” because “the unit’s personnel were drunk,” the ISW reported. The liberation of the village was confirmed on August 16th.

Two Russian citizens were recently arrested in Poland for allegedly spreading Wagner propaganda in Warsaw and Kraków. Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski said both were accused of espionage. The men were arrested when they were distributing leaflets with recruiting websites for the Wagner group in the two cities, it said.
