VIDEO – Covid-19: FFP2 masks made by a vacuum cleaner bag factory

In the Vosges, the Fackelmann vacuum cleaner bag company in Bussang (Vosges) also manufactures FFP2 masks. A phenomenon linked to a very strong felt demand, health establishments no longer being the only ones to place these orders. “We have a website on which orders have multiplied by 100 since the end of December 2020”, explains in the subject TF1 at the head of this article its commercial director Philippe Bothier.

Since 1973 and until 2020, this Vosges factory only manufactured vacuum cleaner bags for all brands of household appliances. But with the health crisis, the boss of this German company discovered that FFP2 masks demanded the same qualities. The two production lines therefore use the same raw materials (non-woven fabrics). For FFP2 masks, you just need more layers and put them together.

Six additional jobs have been created, including that of Hélène Hamm, quality controller, called upon in this area. Since December 2020, it has produced 900,000 every month. In 2022, the factory wants to increase the production rate, hoping to increase to 1.2 million FFP2 masks produced each month. With, as a result, job creations.
