Do you find charging electric cars a nuisance? The fact is: Manufacturers try to use various means to either shorten or sweeten the waiting time. Manufacturers like Tesla or Hyundai even want to take care of parking at the charging point and connecting the power cable.
After Tesla, the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai has now also presented a charging robot. A fully automatic charging process can be seen in a video from the world’s third largest car manufacturer, which also owns the Kia brand.
In this, the all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 6 drives close to a charging station. The driver then gets out of the car, activates the automatic parking aid and the electric car drives in the direction of the robot all by itself.
The robot arm then opens the charging lock and places the charging cable accurately on the car – also with the help of artificial intelligence.
By the way: The idea of the exchangeable battery is not dead yet. The Chinese manufacturer Nio already operates fully automatic exchange stations in Germany, which look like typical car washes and change the battery – empty to full – in ten minutes.
