But if the first lady has the makings of a queen, Jean-Pierre Jouyet regretted that France has never known a sovereign in power: “I notice thatthere has never been a queen of France nor of women who have held power in the image ofAngela Merkel, one of the “queens” of Europe for 15 years. This was also the case in the UK with Theresa May and Margaret Thatcher.” Whereas female candidates have never been so numerous as for the upcoming presidential election, will France finally bring a woman to power?
