VIDEO – Street harassment: a 20-year-old woman from Rouen invents “the turkey technique”, watch

Ridicule does not kill, it can save us. Sarah, a 20-year-old woman from Rouen, invented the ultimate method for cooling heavy dredgers: the turkey technique. In the first video, which has gone viral, she is chased by a man who claims her address on Snapchat… until she imitates the cry of the animal!

This surprising sequence has 4.5 million views on its TikTok page. And gives ideas to the young woman who reproduces the experience by imitating the hen, the cat or the sea lion, on a station platform, in transport or when returning from the evening.

Insistent glances, sexual jokes, inappropriate gestures … 80% of women have already been victims of sexual harassment in public places, according to a survey carried out in 2020 in France, Canada, India, Italy, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom and United States by the Ipsos Institute. 20% of them say they have not been helped by the people around them. Among the latter, 86% say they do not know how to react when they witness street harassment.

Since the promulgation of its law against gender-based and sexual violence in August 2018, 3,023 verbalizations for sexist contempt have been issued, indicated the Minister for Citizenship Marlène Schiappa last April. In August, the government set up an annual barometer on street harassment to map the red zones of street harassment and put in place the tools to eradicate them. The minister’s goal? Guarantee women “relentless neighborhoods”.
