VIDEO – These mayors who take municipal decrees to allow Santa Claus to fly over their villages

It is the most eagerly awaited time of the year by the most innocent children. Those who still believe in the generosity of a man they have never met. So to extend the magic of the holidays a little more in these complicated times, several mayors of France have shown their inventiveness by helping Santa Claus.

Municipal decrees like no other which can only bring back a smile.

In Ploemeur, in Brittany, chimney fires were thus banned for the night of December 24. “We must turn off otherwise Santa Claus will burn his buttocks!”, smiles little Baptiste, already impatient at the TF1 microphone in the report at the top of the article. A smile is precisely the essential ingredient for the coming weekend in the town of Morbihan. “We also added that the Grinch, Scrooge and all the cranky are not allowed in Ploemeur. There should only be people in good spirits,”, explains Ronan Loas, the mayor of the city. “This is the object of this decree and everyone is naturally obliged to comply with it since the municipal police are there to maintain good humor as well”, he assures.

860 kilometers away, it is Santa Claus who is directly targeted by the decree, offering him exceptional authorization. “Considering the absolute necessity for the children to distribute gifts (…), he is entitled to freely fly over the entire Saint-Genois territory during the night of December 24 to 25, on the sole condition that the children are asleep “, wrote Marylène Millet, the mayor of Saint-Genis-Laval, near Lyon, in a decree posted on Twitter.

Santa Claus also has the right to fly over the town of Tavel, in the Gard, “from December 24 at 6 p.m. until December 25 at 1:30 p.m.”. “He is authorized to land on the roofs, in all the streets and in the parking lots of the town as much as necessary in order to unload his sled and his hood”, underlines the text. And watch out for those who slip in its way! “Any inconvenient parking that would prevent its passage and the delivery of gifts will be fined”, warns Mayor Claude Philip.

If there is no gauge on Earth, Santa Claus will have to follow a few rules. “Given the health context and the crisis, he can only be accompanied on his sleigh by three elves. Children are therefore asked to understand that all the gifts ordered cannot be delivered”, underlines the municipal decree of Tavel. A sweet way to anticipate some disappointments among the most greedy toddlers. Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne (Savoie) and Saint-Léonard (Pas-de-Calais) had the same initiative, each time greatly appreciated by the inhabitants.
