Films in which people swap bodies offer great comedy potential. Even in the horror genre, as Vince Vaughn proves in “Freaky”.

From June 24th the horror comedy “Freaky” will start in the cinemas with a lot of delay. In the film, a schoolgirl changes body with a bloodthirsty murderer. So while the teenage killer is allowed to sharpen his knives without being disturbed, it is much more difficult for the girl in the body of the wanted criminal. A circumstance that gave actor Vince Vaughn (51) thieving pleasure in portrayal, as he revealed in an interview with spot on news. He also talked about how his first kiss with a man felt and how a sequel to the cult comedy “The Wedding Crashers” is like.

Vince Vaughn: And I was able to really accelerate. I had a lot of fun teasing out the high school girlie and thus my feminine side in me.

Vaughn: I have two teenage nieces. I spent a day and evening with both of them in the run-up to filming and was able to conduct a wonderful Generation Z study … (laughs) So I’m currently up to date on what not to be missed on TikTok, which sayings are currently hip with the kids and I finally know that Harry Styles is a sex god that no other male star can hold a candle to.

Vaughn: High school was never my world. I usually only brought home mediocre to weak grades because I didn’t feel like learning material that I would never need again for my life later anyway. The only positive thing about that time was that I got along pretty well with the other kids. Having to submit to a school system, on the other hand, was incredibly difficult for me. I was and still am too much a free spirit and revolutionary for that.

Vaughn: We shot the scene in one take and the chemistry between me and my co-star Uriah Shelton was instant. That helped me a lot because for me it was the first time I kissed a guy on the mouth.

Vaughn: Uriah’s lips were pretty soft and it felt okay. I can say: my first kiss with a man was good! But I didn’t really get the taste for it. (laughs)

Vaughn: Why should I? We live in the year 2021! The last homophobic idiots should have died out by now, right? At least in our western and supposedly so modern, diverse world.

Vaughn: Unfortunately you are right! It speaks volumes that to date still no male Hollywood star has come out of the A-League. Women like Jodie Foster are apparently more courageous. Producers and management are still influencing stars behind the scenes, preferring not to take this step for career reasons. Also because the world market is becoming more and more important, countries like Russia or China are even regressing when it comes to homosexuality and openly gay leading actors could therefore have a negative impact on box office results.

Vaughn: I’m out of the blood and bowels. I like psychological horror like in the movie “Hereditary”. Today I like to shudder, but when I was eleven, I had quite traumatic experiences with the genre. I grew up with two older sisters and they preferred movies like “Jaws” and “The Exorcist” as evening TV programs when the parents were out until late at night.

Vaughn: Isn’t it? (laughs) But of course I didn’t want to be naked in front of my sisters, so I pretended not to be impressed by any of this. Later I lay in bed paralyzed with fear, couldn’t sleep for a long time and had the worst nightmares.

Vaughn: My daughter mostly watches Netflix series like “Bridgerton” or “Stranger Things” and my son loves everything from Marvel. Unfortunately, everything degenerated a bit during the Corona period – mainly because my wife and I did not set a good example when it came to streaming and TV consumption. But that was certainly the case with many families. Fortunately, we are in the privileged position of being able to afford private tutors for Locklyn and Vernon during the lockdown period. In addition to the XL entertainment, the school material was not neglected.

Vaughn: Definitely with my wife! She keeps complaining to me about how incredibly embarrassing I supposedly behave at times. I always don’t even know what she actually means. Because I always think I’m pretty great – just the way I am. (laughs)

Vaughn: What kind of theater and hatred for me that triggered was just absurd! I’ve met a few politicians in my career and I’m always polite to everyone – regardless of whether they’re Democrats or Republicans. I only spoke briefly to Trump and his wife and suddenly the haters were pretending I was a Republican figurehead or Trump’s number one election worker. I have never supported a party in any way.

Vaughn: Nothing is official yet, but it actually looks good that the second part is coming. Owen Wilson feels like it, I feel like it – and the first discussions have already taken place. Now all that’s left is a good script and the producers have to give the green light.
