Vincent Lindon: this habit linked to his childhood which “exasperates those around him”: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Vincent Lindon has suffered from tics since the age of five. It was at this age that his parents divorced. A separation which shocked him deeply and lastingly when he was just a child. “These are emotional tics. From what I understand, the tics started around the time his parents separated. He suffered a lot from this, a feeling that he was no longer in either family.“, confided one of his friends in an issue ofOne day a destiny which was dedicated to him, in 2017. A few years earlier, Vincent Lindon already spoke about his tics during a press conference organized at the Cannes Film Festival, as part of the presentation of Diane Kurys’ film, A man in love. The actor confirmed that all his tics faded when he played a role: “Are you referring to my nervousness? It’s true that when I hear the word ‘engine’, I forget all my anxieties, my tics, my nervousness. So if someone could shout engine at me a little more often….”, he revealed in 1987.

Vincent Lindon: “I was very unhappy when I was little”

Sunday February 25, 2024, Vincent Lindon was the guest of Audrey Crespo-Mara, in the show Seven to Eight, broadcast on TF1. The opportunity for him to talk about his life journey. Although he has few memories of his childhood, Vincent Lindon seems to have been lastingly marked by the divorce of his parents : “I was very unhappy when I was little, because I had a lot of tics. I was the child of divorced parents in 1963, at school I was the only one. So bitten nails, tics, and divorced parents, it’s tough at 5 years old.”

What struck Vincent Lindon the most was undoubtedly the lack of listening from which he suffered: “I had parents who were passing through all the time, it was doors that opened and closed in all directions, people barely listened to me and I had to speak quickly. I had to fit as many things as I wanted to say into the shortest sentence..” An attitude which has had numerous after-effects, including one which can sometimes create annoyance among loved ones. “Often I say, which exasperates those very close to me, ‘wait let me finish please‘. While the person hasn’t cut me off yet.”, he laughed.
