Vinci: chosen to build a section of the Toronto subway

(CercleFinance.com) – Vinci announces that Metrolinx, the authority responsible for transport in the Greater Toronto Area (Ontario, Canada) has selected VINCI Construction Grands Projets (50%) in a consortium with Ferrovial (50%), to carry out design-build-finance a significant section of the new Ontario Line subway in Toronto.

This line, with a total length of 15.6 km, will link the Science Center to the Exhibition Centre.

The contract, worth 6 billion Canadian dollars (4.4 billion euros), concerns the financing, design and construction of the civil engineering – excluding railway equipment – of a twin-tube tunnel of 2 x 6 km, and the construction of 7 new stations.

The planned duration of the works is 89 months, for acceptance of the work in 2030.

Ontario Line is a major infrastructure project to reduce congestion, travel times and support sustainable development in the City of Toronto.
