On October 22, 2022, Virgilia Hess announced that she was expecting a baby. A happy news that she had shared on her account instagram via a series of photos of her baby bump. Unfortunately, a few months later, on February 15, 2023, the weather presenter on BFM TV, again gave news, much less good this time… Always on instagramshe revealed that she had breast cancer. “A month ago […] I learned that I had HER2 positive breast cancer. A baby and cancer… I carried both life and disease. Two completely contradictory things…”, she wrote in the caption of a publication. Ironically, it was thanks to her pregnancy that she was diagnosed on time. “If I hadn’t been pregnant, I wouldn’t have had control because I was considered ‘too young'”she explained in the caption of another publication. Thursday July 13, 2023, when she is now accustomed to her new life as a mother, the journalist confided in the microphone of Olivier Truchot in BFM Story.
“I was like, ‘How am I going to do it?'”
Virgilia Hess welcomed Léna-Rose, her first daughter, on March 6, 2023. Impressed by her resilience, her host asked her: “How can we both have a baby and continue treatment heavy ? Because when you have a baby, it takes a lot of time, attention, care, nights…”. Transparent, the young mother replied: “I’m not going to lie to you…I thought, ‘How am I going to do it?’ For me, it was impossible. […] I told myself that I was not going to make it. In the end, I think anyone can do it! That’s why I’m here today too”. Moreover, she is delighted that her four-month-old daughter is good: “She’s very calm, she’s a cool baby! Everything is going very well with her”. A real relief. On this subject, she has a theory: “I think there’s something like this, babies have magical powers… I think she knows mom had it during pregnancy and still does“.
