The weather reporter BFM TVVirgilia Hess, did a passage on the channel Thursday July 13, 2023 to confide in the fight she is waging against her cancer. She discovered it when she was pregnant with her daughter, Léna-Rose, who is in good health. Among the side effects of chemo, she talked about losing her hair and the importance she placed on her wig. “I had a toc, I pulled on it, it went away. There, I had to put on a wig, it’s the price of my social life” she confides. A wig for which she paid €3,000. “It’s the price of social life, it’s the price for some people maybe to keep their job” she explains. “Me, it’s not that I don’t assume to show myself. It’s that I don’t want to read the pity in people’s eyes. It’s starting to grow back, but I don’t want that I am found changed, so for the moment, I keep the wig.

A special pregnancy

Virgilia Hess was diagnosed with her cancer during an appointment with the obstetrician while she was pregnant. In February 2023, she confided in social networks about the strange feeling that animated her. “A baby and cancer…I was carrying both life and disease. Two completely contradictory things.” She also thanked her husbandextremely present for her and her daughter. Indeed, she says that it is impossible for her to take care of her baby in the days following the chemo. “Fortunately my partner is also there to take care of it because the ten days following chemo, I am not at all able to take care of it. It is very difficult for me to get out of bed” she confides. According to his mother, Léna-Rose is very calm and makes his nights perfectly, a real relief for the parents. “I think children have magical powers, they understand” explains the journalist.
