visceral gameplay that packs a punch

Rise of the Ronin, one of the next big PS5 exclusives, came to blow our minds during the last State of Play and it looks completely crazy!

Rise of the Ronin, the next big game from Team Ninja, the creators of TenchuNioh and Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, took advantage of the State of Play at the end of January to show himself once again. The PS5 exclusivity looks particularly promising, especially since the studio knows what it’s talking about, it’s clearly in its element.

Rise fo the Ronin impresses us, but not only

Assumed mixture of Nioh and Ghost of Tsushima, the game presents itself as a large open-world action RPG in a war-stricken medieval Japan. You have to believe that this is a habit for the studio. Whether it’s Nioh, Tenchu or Wo Long, although the eras and regions change, the tone is pretty much the same. On the other hand, unlike Team Ninja’s recent productions, Rise of the Ronin seems much more down to earth here. No invocations, deities or even demons on the horizon, but blades, choreographic assassinations and gadgets everywhere.

For example, we can take advantage of a grappling hook to reach heights easily or even a glider to cross long distances by air. On the combat side, we clearly find the studio’s touch with clashes which promise to be particularly visceral and a clear tendency towards demands with a system of parade and visibly posture. Now it remains to be seen what the game will tell us to make it all work.

In any case, at first glance, it seems very promising. Careful animations and exotic settings on the program. The information is relatively thin, but we know that the game will once again focus on gameplay that claims to be demanding, the studio’s signature. The difference here is that Team Ninja really wants everyone to be able to enjoy their title and therefore several difficulty levels should be present. There will be something for everyone.

Rise of the Ronin is expected exclusively on PS5 on March 22.
