Visibility study 22 – 63% of pedestrians not visible in traffic

Pedestrians are the most vulnerable road users on the road. Since in the event of a collision it is not a question of who was at fault but of who is more vulnerable, it is therefore in one’s own interest to be visible to others. Klaus Robatsch, Head of Traffic Safety, sums up the advantages of being visible to other road users: “Pedestrians in reflective clothing can be seen by a car from a distance of around 140 meters in the dark or with poor visibility. If you wear bright, high-contrast clothing, you can see them from around 40 meters away. In dark clothing without reflectors, on the other hand, they are only discovered when they are only about 25 meters away.”
